Bridges Counselling Parramatta is a team of committed Christian counsellors and Christian psychologists. We draw clients from a diversity of Christian backgrounds and churches.

Christians seek a Christian counsellor or Christian psychologist as someone who is like-minded, just as another person may prefer to see a counsellor of a similar ethnic background. For Christian clients, the Christian dimension is a vital part of their life. These clients want their values, beliefs and spiritual struggles respected. Choosing a Christian counsellor or Christian psychologist is often the easiest way to ensure that.

If you just want good counselling...

Many others simply want an astute counsellor that will be in tune and usher in lasting change. As long as the counsellor can genuinely help them, they don't care about the ethnic or religious background of their counsellor.

At Bridges Counselling, we do not push our own personal or religious agenda against your wishes. Counselling, as we practice it, utilises the best, contemporary, professionally recognised and evidence-based counselling practices. We aim to help you achieve your goals. We don't judge. Christian Counsellors - Training and Experience

Most of us have studied theology or counselling in a Christian tertiary college. We will engage clients where they are at. However, we may draw upon the resources of our Christian faith and training for Christian clients who request it. We take a caring personal approach, but we don't aim to 'do ministry' or replace what the local church is best able to provide, such as community and prayer. We aim to work in partnership with local churches.

As Christian counsellors, we have worked in diverse Christian-based counselling organisations: Anglican, Baptist, Catholic, Hillsong, Salvation Army, Uniting and Wesley Mission. Many of us have had counselling training through either Wesley Institute or St Marks.

Church Leaders and Pastoral Counsellors

We wish to partner with church leaders and pastoral counsellors in our joint work of ministering to and empowering those in need, around Parramatta and Sydney. My own journey has taken me through various pastoral and leadership roles in churches. I can relate to the variety of difficult pastoral issues facing church leaders.

In working with Christians, we sometimes partner with pastors, with the written permission of clients of course. Christians who are well connected into a supportive church community often work through issues more quickly. Church leaders appreciate our impartiality, confidentiality and objectivity as an independent Christian counselling centre.
